Kusatsu Town Yubatake
The town of Kusatsu has flourished around Yubatake. Kusatsu Onsen is the largest hot spring in Kusatsu, with a gush rate of 4,437 liters per minute. The temperature is 55.7 degrees.
The streetscape of the town remained almost unchanged from the Edo period (1800-1830).

Kosenji Temple on Mt. Kusatsu is said to have been rebuilt by the Yumoto clan, lords of Kusatsu, in 1200 as a separate temple for Shirane Myojin. The priesthood of Kosenji was given the position of head of the estate by the Kamakura Shogunate, which allowed the temple to hold Shiranesho as its territory. The temple is a Shingon esoteric Buddhism temple.

It was rebuilt in May of the first year of Bunka (1804) and is the second oldest existing wooden structure in Kusatsu Town, after Kosenji Shakado. Originally, the hall was guarded by the Hosono clan of mountain ascetic monks called Jorakuin. In front of the hall, there is an Enmei Jizoson (206 cm high) dedicated by the Koshu Miyazawa-mura Kusatsu-koju people in 1775, a Sankai Manrei-to (Pagoda for the All Souls of the Three Realms), and the Lotus Sutra One-Syllable Stone Pagoda, which was dedicated in 1799 by the 80-year-old Joraku-in Momo-v@in (a priest). Underneath the pagoda is a vat containing a sutra stone with each character copied from the Lotus Sutra.

Shiranesan is a mountain of faith where God dwells. In the old days, there was a first-class Shiranemyojin on Mt. Shiranesan and a second-class Koshiranemyojin on Mt. Koshiranesan. In the Meiji era (1873), they were enshrined together and became a township shrine. The worship hall was located on the old shrine grounds at the entrance to the town and a new hall was built on the present enclosure. The festival is held on July 17 and 18 every year. A portable shrine parades through the town. The god of worship is Nihon no Musunon.

It means the riverbank to the west of Kusatsu Onsen. In the past, it was also called "Oni no Sensui. Hot spring water gushes out from all parts of the vast riverbed and is the source of the Yugawa River. The average temperature of the springs is 49.3°C. The naturally gushing hot water creates springs in various places, and there was an open-air bath under Fudo Falls.
