Kusatsu Onsen "Goza no Yu
421, Kusatsu-cho, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma
Kusatsu Onsen is so effective that there is a legend that no disease can be cured except for love. Please enjoy this famous hot spring to the fullest.
During the Edo and Meiji periods, there were five public bathhouses in the Yubatake area: Oza-no-yu, Watano-yu, Kakake-no-yu, Taki-no-yu, and Eagle-no-yu, and this is a reconstruction of one of them. Gozanoyu" is said to be associated with Minamoto no Yoritomo, and there is a theory that the name "Gozanoyu" came from the stone on which Lord Yoritomo sat when he came to Mibarano to hunt.
Kusatsu Onsen has been loved by many people for more than 1,000 years. The "Gozanoyu" was recreated in Yubatake, the symbol of Kusatsu Onsen. The building was built between the Edo and Meiji periods (1603-1868), when people lived in Kusatsu for the winter, and is made of wood with a ton-thatched roof made of cedar shingles and plaster walls. Please feel the relaxing time, touch the history, and experience the culture and history of Kusatsu Onsen.
